NEMA 6 / 6P (IP67, IP 68) ENCLOSURE - OPTIONS All Nemaco Technology's industrial (heavy duty) submersible enclosures, boxes and cabinets are available with the following options: adjustable 19 eia rack rails, clear lexan windows, single doors, double doors, grounding studs, padlock provisions, sub-panels (powder coated carbon steel & aluminum), single shelf, adjustable shelves, custom cut-outs and many custom marine epoxy colors (for carbon steel enclosures). NEMA 6P Type Enclosure Ratings & Definitions NEMA 6 Enclosure Definition: Intended for indoor or outdoors which occasional temporary submersion is encountered. NEMA 6 Enclosure Applications: NEMA 6 enclosures are typically made of carbon steel, stainless steel, plastic, fiberglass (FRP) and other water resistant materials. NEMA 6 enclosures that are made from carbon steel require protective coating to prevent oxidation (rust). Therefore, carbon steel NEMA 6 enclosures can be used for temporary from rain water and other non-corrosive liquids. NEMA 6 enclosures are typically used for applications to protect equipment from temporary submersion in water but not any salt water, acidic fluids, oils or flammable liquids. A few examples are applications for any heavy washdown for cleaning or temporary submersion from rainwater but not prolonged. The Tough Tigerbox™ NEMA 6 enclosures are available in carbon steel, 304 & 316 stainless steel and available with continuous hinges, mounting feet and sometimes special fittings for applications. Tigerbox™ NEMA 6 enclosures are offered in sizes from small wall mounts to single-door medium size floor mount styles. Also, stainless steel passivation for additional corrosion protection is available on request for all the stainless steel enclosures. NEMA 6p Enclosure Definition: Intended for indoor or outdoors which occasional prolonged submersion is encountered. Corrosion protection is required. NEMA 6p Enclosure Applications: NEMA 6p enclosures are mostly made of 304/316 stainless steel for industrial applications and sometimes plastic for inexpensive electronics. The Submersible NEMA 6p enclosures are used in applications where more protection is needed and there might be water submersion. Applications where corrosive materials (for example saltwater) and caustic cleaners are used necessitate the use of Stainless Steel Submersible NEMA 6p enclosures. For most industial applications 304 and 316 stainless steel are used. For offshore platforms and naval applications, typically 316 stainless steel is used. Each application is determined by customer's requirements and specifications. Tough Tigerbox™ Submersible Nema 6p enclosures are available with special configurations per each customer's specifications. And the Tigerbox™ NEMA 6p enclosures are offered in sizes from small wall mounts to two-door floor mount enclosure models. Also, stainless steel passivation for additional corrosion protection is available on request for all the stainless steel products.

A typical example of submersible NEMA 6P enclosure would be a stainless steel box used for electronic controls in a power plant or an offshore facility. Also, Submersible NEMA 6P can be used for any indoor/outdoor security systems that require additional water resistance and protection. NEMA 6P Enclosures are typically are more expensive due the stainless steel material cost and require skill craftsman for manufacturing.
