Definition: Enclosures are for indoor use in locations classified as Class I, Groups A, B, C, or D.
NEMA 7 Type Enclosure Applications
A typical example of NEMA 7 enclosure would be a cast iron enclosure used for electrical controls for chemical plant or oil & gas production facility where the enclosure (with electrica components) is located near a hazardous area of combustible gases. NEMA 7 Enclosures are typically more expensive than expensive that NEMA 4X enclosures.
